Troubleshooting for Electro-Hydaulic steering for Tugboat.

                       TROUBLESHOOTING

Fault - Main Pump Noise

Probable Causes :
1.Low or no hydrolic oil in tank.
2.Suction inlet strainer choked.
3.Contamination or water in the system.
4.Pump going to fail.

Fault - No Pressure & Flow From Main Pump

Probable Causes :
1.Low or no hydrolic oil in tank
2.Main relief valve setting too low or spoilt.
3.Piping or flexible hoses leaking or burst.
4.Main pump spoilt.

Fault - Loss of system oil

Probable Causes :
1.Piping or flexible hoses leaking or burst
2.Steering cylinder leaking though rod seal
3.Hydrolik oil tank drain valve not closed properly

Fault - Steering cylinder can't hold in position.

Probable Causes
1.Steering cylinder seals leaking
2.Steering cylinder motion lock valve setting too low or spoilt
3.Cross over relief valve setting too low or spoilt.

Fault - One direction steering only

Probable Causes
1.Directional control valve solenoid coil at the power pack is spoilt.
2.Cross over relief valve setting too low or spoilt
3.Steering joystick faulty or wiring connections loose.

Fault - Vibrations & Noise From System

Probable Causes
1.Pins or clevises not greased
2.Hydrolic oil level too low
3.Hydrolic pump not pumping properly
4.Piping clamps loose
5.System overheating

Fault - High Temperature & Overheating

Probable Causes
1.Low or no hydrolic oil in tank
2.Suction inlet strainer choked
3.Return filter choked causing cavitation
4.Pump oil going to be spoilt
5.Wrong grade of hydrolic oil being replaced.Use Grade Iso 68
6.Hydrolic oil contamination
7.Safety relief valve set too low or faulty

Fault - System Becomes Sluggish at time

Probable Causes
1.Overheating problem
2.Main pump going to fail
3.Piping minor leaks or hoses loose causing cavitation
4.Hydrolic oil contamination.
